Established in 2016, by founding member and regional artist Christine Lethlean, the inaugural Textile Palette Exhibition was launched at Gallery5 in the historic village of Clunes Victoria. The opening occasion reflected an artisan community with a creative difference and set a precedent celebrating textile arts at a local level and across the region. Since these earlier beginnings, the exhibition has evolved to become a curated biennial event, aiming to showcase works that incorporate and challenge the parameters of contemporary textile art practice.

Now attracting established and emerging textile and fibre artisans from wider afield, applications are open to artists from across the country.. Essentially the event celebrates the artistic contribution made within the visual arts field by stitching artists, sculptors and costumiers, highlighting the growing array of individual techniques and creative ideas that are emerging..

It is envisaged that the biennial Textile Palette Exhibition will continue to offer contemplative themes, build audiences for artisans and foster networking opportunities for curators and collectors,` whilst continuing to attract visitors to the historic village of Clunes, to the Hepburn Shire, Ballarat and surrounding areas.

The Textile Palette Exhibition is varied in content and talent and incorporates artworks that feature creative stitching + surface design, creative appliqué, art quilting, costumery, sculpture, installations reclaimed furniture and soft furnishings.
